Backup Tools for Firebird

Time to Backup" is a suite of programs that allow to set up a scheduled backup of Interbase or Firebird databases on multiple hosts. The tools come with full sources, written in Object Pascal.

It has the following features:

• On Windows NT (2000 or XP) the scheduler works as a service.
• On Linux, the service works as a simple daemon, and can be run by any user.
• A GUI configuration tool allows to set up various backup sets and to control the scheduler. This tool works on Windows and Linux.
• A separate service or daemon can be installed to allow remote registration: The GUI tool can connect to the remote adminstration daemon to manage the configuration on a remote host

FIBS is a lightweight, fast scheduler designed to meet most backup needs. It uses the Firebird/InterBase command line tool gbak. FIBS can also create PKZip compatible compressed backup files, if user wants to. FIBS uses a multi-threaded architecture. Every backup process (including zipping) is executed in a separate thread.

GBAK Scheduler is an InterBase/Firebird backup utility that performs regular database backups within a user defined strategy.

It's main feature is to preserve the required number of backups to allow data recovery from previous days.

GBAK Scheduler keeps several backups on your disks (for example 4 a day for 30 days) so you can solve a possible database problem with the preferred copy (not always the latest).

GBAK Scheduler is safe because it doesn't perform the backup itself, but runs your copy of GBAK.EXE.

GBAK Scheduler uses few system resources and can run as an application or a Windows NT service. It can run in automatic (loaded and started at startup) or manual mode and can run your backup tasks whenever you want with the Execute now! command, without waiting for the scheduled time.

Gbak Scheduler was tested on platforms from Win95 to Win2008 Server and Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit).
